LAURA WHYTE (nee EDWARDS) September 18, 1920 - April 9, 2005 With family at her side, it is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Laura in Victoria, BC, after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Bill; her dear sister Kay Ledger of San Gabriel, CA, and predeceased by loving sisters, Edith Mills and May McNeill, both of Winnipeg. Laura was born and raised in Winnipeg, the daughter of Albert and Laura Edwards. Her working career was spent at Winnipeg Hydro where she enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and co-workers. She married Bill in 1954 and shared a joyous 51 years together, ultimately retiring to Victoria. One of Laura's greatest pleasures was spending time with Bill at their cabin at Laclu, ON. She spent her childhood summers there as well. It was a place of great joy for her. She was an avid card player, loved music, was a keen observer of nature. She worked hard and was a great cook (who could forget her wonderful gravy) and enjoyed her guests to the fullest. Left to cherish her memory are Bill and his family, Marg and Les Campbell of Winnipeg, Helen Fetterly of Victoria, Cliff (deceased) who's company she enjoyed very much. She was a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews. Ed, Jo Anne (Seattle, WA), John, (Salem, OR), Rick (San Gabriel, CA), Carole and Donnamay (Winnipeg), Lorraine, (Victoria), Janice (Surrey), Brian (Vancouver) BC, Colin (Ft. McMurray, AB), Lesley and Donald (Winnipeg). A family service will be held in Victoria. In honour of Laura's memory, friends may choose to donate to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of choice.
