FLORENCE (DOUMA) BISSETT Florence (Douma) Bissett, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2005 surrounded by her beloved husband Lloyd and her family. Mom was predeceased by her beloved, devoted husband John Douma in 1970 with whom they had shared a wonderful marriage of 32 years. They were a very happy family oriented couple. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Dirk, George, and Jacob, and her sisters, Elizabeth, Nellie, Gretchen, and Florie. Mom leaves behind her caring husband Lloyd Bissett; her four children, Janet Dupuis (George), Ken Douma (Anne), Sheila Atchison (Doug), and Joanne Langrell (Tim); and her 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who were adored. She is also survived by her sisters, Tienie, and Ella (Gordon); her sisters-in-law, Elsie and Joyce; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born on December 13, 1912 in Balk, Netherlands. The family came to Canada in 1927 and settled in the Stonewall area. She married John Douma in 1937 and lived in the Winnipeg area all her life. Her beloved husband John passed away on February 4, 1970. Florence remained a widow for 28 years before marrying her dear friend and neighbor Lloyd Bissett. Lloyd is a caring loving husband who loved and cared for her till the end of her life's journey. A special thank you to her granddaughter Barb who had a special bond with grandmother. Many thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for your exceptional care. We all love and cherish you, Mom. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to CancerCare. MOM You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our Mother we could turn For those of you who have a Mother Treasure her with care For you will never know her value Til you see she is not there To hear her voice to see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be our dearest wish today.
