OLGA PRYSTUPA (nee CHARKO) 1912 - 2005 With great sadness we announce that Olga Prystupa passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Misericordia Place Care Home on April 15, 2005. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Savella Mankewich, Orest (Rose) Prystupa, Stella (Steve) Uruski, Adele Monasterski, Zennovia (Donald) MacDonald, John (Helene) Prystupa, Marvin (Joanne) Prystupa, Theresa Prystupa and Leonard Prystupa; 35 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Mary Belyk and Helen (Ken) Rommings; sisters-in-law, Helen, Tillie, Sally and Alice Charko, Stella, Josephine and Jean Prystupa; brother-in-law Tom Prystupa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will joyfully be reunited with family who predeceased her, husband Anton in 1980, daughter Sr. Joan in 1992, granddaughter Violet in 1956, sons-in-law, Michael Mankewich in 2000 and Michael Monasterski in 2004, five brothers and three sisters. Mom was born in Krydor, SK and raised in Great Deer, SK where she met and married the love her life, Anton, in 1929. Together they farmed in Great Deer until 1947 when they moved to Warren, MB and finally to Stonewall, MB in 1960. Mom was a true example of a homemaker, where no chore was too hard, no task impossible and no day long enough. Along with Dad, she raised a family of 10 children in a loving home. Her love of children was experienced by all her grandchildren as well. In numerous ways each one was made to feel special and up until recently she remembered every birthday. She will be sadly missed by all. Thank you Mom, for making God the center of our lives, for your never ending prayers, for your unconditional love, and your example of strength and faith. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Vernon Mankewich, Curtis Prystupa, Lorne Uruski, Darryl Monasterski, Dan MacDonald, Mark Prystupa and Ryan Prystupa. The family would like to thank the staff at Misericordia Place, especially those on Apple Lane, for the kindness and compassion shown to Mom and all of us over the past five years. Prayers will be said on Monday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, Stonewall, with Rev. Fr. Vince Herner officiating. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Stonewall with Rev. Fr. Gerald Langevin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
