Born: May 20, 1956
Date of Passing: Apr 17, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN ANNE FICZYCZ (nee GAJERSKI) May 20, 1956 - April 17, 2005 Marilyn passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David, Allison (B. J. Jaman) and Matthew. Allison's fiance B.J. held a very special place in Marilyn's heart and she considered him to be her fourth child. The rest of her family will miss our daughter and sister forever. Marilyn's parents, Frank and Aune Gajerski of Dauphin; sisters, Elaine (John Lamblin) and Shelley Gajerski (John Pauch) of Winnipeg. We know Marilyn's husband Bill (1993) and her niece Devon (2002) were waiting for her with angel wings in their hands. Marilyn was born in Brandon and I had the honour of being her big sister. We lived in Winnipeg on Hazeldell Avenue where our youngest sister Shelley was born. Soon after, when Marilyn was six our family moved to Dauphin. Marilyn told me a few months ago that she had the best childhood in the world. Marilyn was very popular in school and soon caught the eye of her future husband Bill. They were married on September 24, 1977. Soon after, Marilyn started working for the T. D. Bank in Dauphin. Bill and Marilyn's first child David was born in 1980 in Dauphin. Their little family moved to Thompson in 1981 where Allison was born that same year. Matthew completed the family in 1984. The family of five moved to Sundance where Bill worked as a surveyor for Manitoba Hydro on the Limestone Project. Some of the family's happiest times were spent in Sundance and Marilyn made wonderful friends. In the summer of 1992 the family moved to Winnipeg. David, Allison and Matthew were all in school by this time so Marilyn decided to work part time and was successful in getting a position at the T. D. Bank on Goulet. After Bill's sudden death in March 1993, she started working full time at the branch. One of her favourite parts of her job was helping and talking to seniors as they came in to do their banking. After this branch was closed Marilyn moved to the T. D. Canada Trust on Pembina and McGillvray where she worked until she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in August of 2004. Marilyn had many co-workers at T. D. Canada Trust that she considered to be very good friends. To all of you and you know who you are. You are the ones who brought food to the house for the family and who phoned on a regular basis. Even when Marilyn was too sick to talk you would leave a message just to let Marilyn know you were thinking about her. These calls made Marilyn's illness a lot more bearable and we thank you so much for them. I was there numerous times when she would listen to her messages and often she would cry and say, They haven't forgotten me. You are truly her friends. Marilyn was a wonderful person, always full of life. Anyone who knew her would have to admit, no one could tell a story like her. She could turn, what most people would consider an every day thing into the funniest story you had ever heard. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother who always put her children first and loved them with all her heart. Remember her with love and laughter. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 21 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) with Deacon Doug Meakin officiating. Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her husband Bill. A private family interment will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. We would like to thank Dr. Pat Harris, the nurses at the Oncology Department at Concordia Hospital and the Palliative Care nurses. You are a truly a credit to your profession and because of your kindness, help, understanding and being there for Marilyn, we were able to get through a very tough eight months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concordia Oncology Clinic, 1095 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2K 3S8. There is an angel who rides the world on a the wings of a butterfly, spreading angel dust as it goes, for angel dust is the secret ingredient in a smile, a moonbeam, a dimple, a ray of sunshine, a rainbow, a baby's laugh, a first kiss and a mother's love. I'd just like to express my sincere condolences to David, Alison, Matthew and family. I used to babysit you kids up in Sundance. You lived a couple of houses away from me and I thought of your mother as a breath of fresh air. She was a beautiful woman with such a sincere heart. We will miss her!
