Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE PETERS HENDERSON (nee DUKE) Mom passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Sunday, April 17, 2005 at William George Extended Care, Sioux Lookout, ON at the age of 91. Sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by her family, Elaine (Dennis) Leney, Sioux Lookout, ON, Donna Rivas and James Henderson, Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren, Kerry (Pete), Kyle (Tobi), Ryan (Melissa) and Sean; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kaileigh, Justin and Perrin and step-grandchildren, Carla, Moira, Alejandra and their families. Mom is survived by sister-in-law Elsie Duke, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Euphemia and Pipe Major John Duke and brother John Jack Duke. Mom was born June 26, 1913 and raised in Norwood, MB attending St. Joseph's Academy. For many years she worked for Eaton's, taking time out to marry and raise her family, she returned to Eaton's working in the candy department as one of the Candy Girls . Mom spent her last working years as a turbine technician at Standard Aero, retiring in 1978. Moving to Sioux Lookout in 2001 she resided at the Sioux Towers and later the William George Extended Care. Mom was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed gardening, entertaining friends and spending time with her family at home or at the lake, or just puttering . She touched the hearts of many always putting others before herself. Mom will be forever remembered as the elegant lady with the beautiful smile . A celebration of Mom's life will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21 at the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home. On Friday, April 22, a graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, MB followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at St. James Presbyterian Church, 1476 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be son-in-law Dennis Leney and grandchildren, Kerry Leney, Kyle Leney, Ryan Henderson, Sean Rivas and Alejandra Rivas. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society through the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1449, Sioux Lookout, ON P8T 1B9.
