JOSEPH FERNAND LUCIEN NAULT February 6, 1946 - April 12, 2005 It is with our deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Joseph Nault at his residence in Winnipeg. Joe will be loved through eternity and our memories of him will be forever cherished by his wife Helena; children and grandchildren, daughter Jennifer (Rick), Czarnecki, Nicole, Danielle; son Jason (Katherine) Kamerin, Kaitlyn; sister Alice (Tom) Lester; brothers, Gerard (Vicki) of Winnipeg, Herve (Brenda), George (Elaine) of Calgary, AB, Gilles (Barbara) of Gunton, MB; sisters-in-law, Maria Pikta of Winnipeg, Kris (Art) Thompson of Abbotsford, BC; brothers-in-law, John (Donna) Pikta of Winnipeg, Walter Pikta of Toronto, ON and nieces, nephews and numerous other family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Etienne and Victoria; brother Real; sister Aline Rempel and her husband George; niece Sharon Rempel and mother-in-law Anna Pikta. Born in St. Boniface, Joe lived in St. Pierre, MB until at age 12 his father passed away and his family moved to Winnipeg. In their early years, he travelled around and worked up north until he met Helena, married and started their family. He was accepted into Red River College to become an accountant, but the call of the open road and the big semis was too strong. He began driving long distance and was known by his CB handle of Hombre. Over the next 30 years he drove over three million miles in Canada and the United States, driving for Arnold Bros., Reimers, Bison, and Saveway among others. At one time he was owner/operator with Cougar (Division of Bison), but gave up the truck because he liked the driving better than the paperwork. Over the last 18 months he was driving for Turk's Enterprises. He had taken his grandson Kamerin on a Florida trip to show him the open road. Joe was looking forward to many more highway miles with Kamerin, his other grandchildren Nicole, Kaitlyn, Danielle and other family members as well. But as much as he loved the open road, he greatest loves were his children and grandchildren. He loved and looked forward to large family gatherings and the more relatives and friends there the better. He always had a story, joke or good conversation to share. Joe had an inquiring mind and many interests. In the early years he enjoyed working on cars and especially his convertibles. He enjoyed music of all styles and loved to play his harmonica and guitar. Many times he'd play his harmonica while going down the highway. He was intrigued by gadgets and electronics and always wanted to know how they worked. He was always checking out the latest ones wherever he stopped. Wherever he stopped, he couldn't resist buying sunglasses and CDs. Joe always loved animals but especially his dogs. Over the years, he would take the dog he had at that time on the road with him. Jay, Beau and Joey were dogs that played a big part in his life, and travelled many miles with him. There was many facets to Joe, too numerous to mention at this time. He made friends wherever he went. He treasured his friends and the time he spent with them. He always made a point of seeing them when he was in town. A funeral service will be will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Honorary pallbearers will be Herve Nault, George Nault, Gerard Nault, Gilles Nault, Jason Nault, John Pikta, Jennifer and Rick Czarneki. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart and Stoke Foundation. He will live in our hearts forever. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

We were in school together in Saint-Pierre and we also did things together as kids... After the family left for the city we lost touch though I often wondered what had become of him and some of his brothers that I had known at the time; Réal, George, Hervé... I was at a funeral in Saint-Pierre last night and shared the news with others about Fern's passing. A few made the comment: "Not our Fern?" I found that interesting... It was an indication that he "belonged" to those who grew up with him... Bon voyage Fernand! - Posted by: Ronald Valois (Friend) on: Apr 23, 2005
