GARY GEORGE HELGASON After a hard fought battle with cancer, Gary George Helgason passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, April 21, 2005. Gary is survived by his mother Irene; brothers, Allan (Rita) and Greg (Laurie); cousins, Christine (Bruce) Kardal and George Whitehead; niece Katie; and nephew Rob. He was predeceased by his father Leo in 1993. Born on June 6, 1953 in Brandon, Gary spent his early years in Gimli before moving to Winnipeg. He looked forward to attending the Icelandic Celebration in Gimli. Gary was a carpenter and concrete specialist employed with BNL Construction. His hobbies included playing darts, motorcycles and military history. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Ward, his nurse Jo and Dr. Mulder. Special thanks to longtime friend Tommy Todd for his friendship and commitment especially over the last few months.
