MARY ANNE BITTNER (nee BAKER) On April 22, 2005 at the Lakeshore General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, Mary Anne Bittner aged 70 years of Ashern, MB. Mary was born January 25, 1935 in Ashern, the third child of Ralph and Elizabeth Baker. She attended Barnwald School and in 1955 she married Harold Bittner. They lived in Red Lake, ON and Winnipeg before settling in Ashern in 1964. Kim was born in 1965 and Mary loved her job of raising her. In 1978 she went to work at Ashern Pharmacy where she worked until her retirement in 1993. Mary enjoyed curling in her younger years and especially enjoyed going out for coffee with her many friends. She also enjoyed gardening. Mary was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Her greatest joy of her retirement years was her family, especially her grandson James, she loved spending time with him. She leaves to mourn her husband Harold; daughter Kim (Stuart) and grandson James; sisters, Elsie, Emma, and Elizabeth (Jim); along with numerous other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Elizabeth and brother Matthew. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church, Ashern with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Ashern Elks Hall following the service. Interment will be held at a later date at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
