ERNA APPERLOO 1935 - 2005 Peacefully, on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Riverview Health Centre, our beloved Erna passed away to be with her Lord. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 48 years, Marcus; mother, Lambertha (Linda) Doornink; sister, Elly van Endhoven (Philip); brothers, Bart (Wendy) and Ernst Jr. (Irma); several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands. Erna was predeceased by her father Ernst Sigismund in 2001. Erna was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on July 7, 1935. She received her elementary and secondary education in that city, aiming for a position in the textile industry. However, she met and married Marcus and together they immigrated to Canada in 1957, settling in Winnipeg. After a few false starts she found her niche in the retail shoe sales branch and retired in 1991 after more than 26 years in that industry. Erna was a gentle, unassuming, loving and beloved lady with an affectionate smile and a friendly word for everyone she dealt with. Her hobbies included travel, her piano, drawing, and painting. She always found something creative to do. Our heartfelt thanks for the many visitors, gifts of flowers, and the many greeting cards. Also, a special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Minnie Jobse for their incredible acts of support during the last three and a half months, it was overwhelming! As well a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Riverview Health Centre, Floor 3-East Wing, for their exceptional care, love and compassion for Erna. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave. with Rev. Ken Innes presiding. At the family's request, a private family interment will take place in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, your gifts to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB or to the St. John's Presbyterian Memorial Fund are appreciated by the family. 1 Corinthians 13:13 GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
