DONALD ARTHUR YORK It is with great sadness the family of Donald Arthur York announces his death on April 22, 2005. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife Margaret; son Jim; daughter-in-law Linda; grandchildren, Karin, Neal and Mae Jean; and great-grandsons, David and Alex. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jean Holley and Shirley Russell as well as brother-in-law Fred Russell. Don was born in 1918 in Port Arthur, ON to the late Arthur and Martha York. He served in the R.C.N.V.R. from 1941 to 1945 in Sydney and Halifax, NS where he met and married his wife Margaret. Upon leaving the Navy, he worked for the CNR in Thunder Bay and served with the naval reserves. He was transferred to Winnipeg in 1962. Don was actively involved with and proud of his family. He was a gentle, caring person who worked to make the world a better place. He loved golfing at the Charleswood Golf Course for many years and was president of the Charleswood Seniors Curling Club. In his retirement, Don loved to travel. We cannot adequately express our thanks to Dr. Garth Campbell and the wonderful staff of the Rose Unit and East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB for their care of Dad and the whole family.
