ARNOLD IVAN CHOKEN Thunderbird is Coming (Binesi Guabiiteyashid) Suddenly on April 23, 2005 at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Ivan Choken, aged 36 years of Lake Manitoba First Nation. Ivan was born June 6, 1968 in Eriksdale, MB. He was a fun-loving person who had a good sense of humour with his jokes, his laughing, smiling and teasing. He had a good spirit and could get along with everyone. He loved to play bingo, go for long walks, he liked horses, hockey and pow wows. Memories of Ivan will be cherished forever in our hearts. He leaves to mourn his mother Florence Choken; his brothers, Michael (Charlene), Albert (Lynn Janet), Cecil, and Charles (Madeleine); his sisters, Elizabeth Flores (Miguel) and Tina Sinclair (Lawrence); his many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles from the Choken family, the Paul family, the Edwards family, the Hanslip family, the Spence family, the Maytwayashing family, and the Desjarlais family. He also leaves many, many friends. He was predeceased by his father Wilfred Paul (Pallette) on January 27, 2002; and his nephew Cory Sinclair on April 2, 1997. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, April 27 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at his mother Florence's residence on Lake Manitoba First Nation. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lake Manitoba School Gymnasium with Father Glofcheski officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba Reserve Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clifford Swan (Lappert), Calvin Desjarlais, Lawrence Thompson, Douglas Paul (Dougie), Cecil McIvor and Earl Maytwayashing. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ashern Hospital, the Ashern Ambulance, and the caregivers, Lake Manitoba Chief and Council, family and friends who have given so much support in our time of need.
