JAMES BENJAMIN CARTER Surrounded by family, James Carter died April 26, 2005 at the Oakview Place. Jim will be missed by his devoted wife Cecile; and children, Deanna Malak (Larry), Randy Carter, Valerie Carter; grandson Jason Malak and daughter-in-law Wenda Carter. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Kay Lesage (Marcel), Margaret Durand (Leo), Jessie Sullivan (Bob); brother-in-law George Coppens (Ester); and sister-in-law Annette Coppens; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Jim was predeceased by his son Murray Carter; parents Archie and Margaret Carter; brother-in-law Harry Coppens; and sister-in-law Alice Coppens. Jim was born March 20, 1924 in Rathwell, MB. He farmed (other than the time he spent in the armed services during the war) until he married Cecile Coppens in 1950 and moved to Winnipeg. He worked most of his life as a sheet metal mechanic at Trans Air, Bristol and Air Canada. Jim was an active man who enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and his family. His kindness, generosity and sense of humour will be remembered by all who knew him. His last few years have been spent struggling with deteriorating health. We are grateful to the staff of the Grace Hospital and Oakview Place. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Saturday, April 30 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
