Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERBERT JAMES GORDON ANDERSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Anderson, fondly known as Bob, Gord, Gordie, Grandpa Bob, Grandpa Gord on April 26, 2005 at the age of 96. Gord was born in Welshpool, Wales in 1909 and immigrated to Canada as a child during the First World War. He attended Riverview Elementary School and graduated from Kelvin High School in Winnipeg. Gordie loved cars, motorcycles, airplanes and was an original member of the Manitoba Motorcycle Club. During the Second World War, Gord worked in Northern Manitoba on aircraft for the RAF, which is where he began his lifelong health and fitness regimen. Throughout his life he was passionate about sports, especially his favourites: golfing, bowling, curling, hockey, walking and exercising, which he enjoyed right up until his passing. During his long career, he worked most of his adult life in Winnipeg where he worked for Winnipeg Supply and Bearing Supply as a Purchasing Agent and Manager. Gord was predeceased by his wife Jean, as well as special companions, Ruthie, Alva and Jean. He is survived by his granddaughter Colleen Ankersmit and her family; husband Bob, children Sarah and Erin all of Idaho. His daughter, Dianne Qualtrough of Palm Desert, CA. He will be lovingly remembered by his family as well as his extended families - the Creasers, the Lamberts - and his many friends at the Radi Centre and Morgan Manor. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday April 30. Remembrances may be made to the Special Olympics Manitoba Inc., 200 Main St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4V9, or Big Brothers of Winnipeg, 2nd Floor - 765 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0N2, in Gord's memory.
