EDWINA (WINNIE) KATHLEEN CUNNINGHAM Those who seek God have already found Him - William Blake On Wednesday, April 20, 2005 Winnie passed away at Riverview Health Centre with her daughter by her side. She was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 1998 then developed other health challenges in the following years. Through it all Winnie strived to live with dignity, courage and independence and never complained even as her body weakened. She had a youthful spirit and always managed to see the lighter side of life. Her positive outlook and attitude of gratitude were inspirational to all who knew her. Winnie was born on Christmas Day 1918 and felt honoured to come into this world on the Lord's Birthday. As she moved through the various stages of her life she continually strived to embody His teachings - and succeeded. With her passing friends and family have to tearfully accept that a bright, beautiful earth angel has left this world. Her suffering is over and she has her wings and now is free to fly with her beloved butterflies. Now that she is released to the next level of her soul-path she joins her predeceased husband Greg and others who left before her. Knowing Winnie we believe she will continue to offer love and support to daughter Coralie Darsey-Malloy, son-in-law David Malloy, nieces, Joan Wickins, Deidre McCormick, husband Bud, their children, nephew James Cunningham and her many friends. With her passing many are grieving the lost of their friend and trusted confidante. As we mourn her passing may we continue to honor how she lived by following in her footsteps? If we do then Winnie's Wisdom will echo in the lives of others for many years to come. By remembering to treat others the way she treated us her wonderful spiritual attributes will create a ripple effect and continue to make the world a better place. Coralie and David would like to extend our appreciation to the management and staff of Riverview Health Centre. Each of you, in your own way contributed to the quality of mom's life and we are grateful for your care and support. During her two and a half years at RHC mom often said she felt fortunate to be a part of the Riverview family and that put our minds at ease when distance and circumstance kept us apart. In keeping her wishes a cremation has taken place. For those who wish to attend, a celebration of Winnie's life will take place at the Riverview Health Centre Chapel on Tuesday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the memorial. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire a donation may be made to Riverview Health Center World Wildlife Fund or Winnipeg Humane Society. Winnie - we'll love you forever.
