Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKLAAS (NICK) ZWIEP 1915 - 2005 Peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2005 our dad went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He passed away at the age of 89 at the Riverview Health Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Gerritje Boeijink in May 1944 and his wife Ellen Brik in April 2002, as well as his parents and several brothers and sisters. He leaves to remember him his children, Bill (Beatrix), Gerrit (Sheila), Jettie and Margaret. He also leaves to remember him his 11 grandchildren and his six great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are his brother Bert (Minnie) and family of Portage la Prairie as well as his sister Roelie and brother Henk in the Netherlands. Dad had numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. Dad was born in Emmen, the Netherlands on October 5, 1915. He brought his family to Canada May 1957, settling in Winnipeg. After a few years, he became employed at the University of Manitoba and retired in 1980 as supervisor of ground keeping. Dad loved his Dutch heritage and made many trips to the Netherlands to visit his brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Dutch Canadian Society and for many years played harmonica with the Holland Harmonicats, playing at the Dutch Pavilion as well as entertaining seniors in care homes. For many years dad loved camping and with mom spend several winters in Arizona. Dad was a faithful member of the Elmwood Community Reformed Church. His church family and many friends will miss him. We are grateful to the members for all their support and prayers. The family thanks the Riverview Health Centre staff on 3E for their love and care for our dad. You were wonderful. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elmwood Community Reformed Church, 1040 Beach, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1E6.
