CONRAD KENNETH MLODZINSKI Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Conrad Mlodzinski, aged 58 years, of East Selkirk, passed away at the Selkirk and District General Hospital on April 30, 2005 with his family at his side. Conrad leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 32 years, Sandi; daughter Amanda Devion and husband Sean of Winnipeg; son Regan of East Selkirk; his parents, John and Sophie of Highland Glen; two brothers, Ken (Denise) of Winnipeg and Greg (Colleen) of East Selkirk; a sister Marilyn Scheirich (Darrell) of Selkirk and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends. Conrad was born in Selkirk on June 22, 1946 and had attended school in Highland Glen and then the Selkirk Collegiate where he graduated. He then enrolled at M.I.T. (R.R.C.C.) in Winnipeg. After graduating he moved to Peterborough where he worked for C.G.E. In 1970, missing family and friends, he moved back, met Sandi Pawluk and they were married in June of 1972. He had been employed with Atomic Energy, West End Tire, Canadian Rogers, and then purchased River East Travel, where he organized and accompanied several group trips with the Knights of Columbus. Conrad also owned and operated Highland Glen Enterprises. He recently purchased a lawn care maintenance business in Lac Du Bonnet which he was going to operate in his retirement. Conrad was a member of St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Cooks Creek. He enjoyed travelling, playing cards and in his earlier years, canoe trips into the backcountry, which his children enjoy doing as well. He loved times spent at Lee River where he had just completed his and Sandi's retirement home. Conrad will be missed for his quick wit, sense of humour, teasing and joking. He enjoyed entertaining and times spent with family and friends. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Cooks Creek with Fr. Owen Steeves officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the parish cemetery. Fellow members of the Knights will form a Guard of Honour. His honorary pallbearers will be Regan, Amanda and Sean; Ken, Greg and Marilyn; and good friends Gary Waylett and Tom Shymko. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the CancerCare (Kidney Cancer Research) or for Masses in his memory. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
