MARY PAULS (nee JANZEN) July 22, 1911 - April 30, 2005 On April 30, 2005, Mary passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital at age 93. She was born in Wisenfeld (Southern Russia) and moved to Crimea at age one. At age 14, she immigrated to Lena, MB with her family. In her late 20's, she attended Winkler Bible school for four years. On July 26, 1944, she married Aron Pauls and moved to their farm in Osborne, MB. They had two children, Linda and John. Mary loved quilting, handiwork, and her garden. She was very involved in the Domain Mennonite Brethren Church, including teaching Sunday school. In 1979, she moved to Winnipeg after the death of her husband. She enjoyed travelling, volunteering, and attending North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. She was a woman of deep faith. In September 2000, she moved to Donwood Personal Care Home following a stroke. Mary will be remembered by her children, Linda (Bill) Oakley and John (Anna) Pauls; grandchildren, Matthew and Deborah Oakley, Barbara (Dan) Lanyon, Andrew (Sherry-Lee), Kristin, and Nicholas Pauls; one great-granddaughter Emma Rose Pauls; and one sister, Sara Dueck. She was predeceased by her husband, one granddaughter and two brothers. A special thanks to the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home 2 South and Concordia Hospital N1 South for their exceptional care. The funeral will be held at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway, Thursday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. Viewing prior to the service and Wednesday, May 4 at Donwood Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mennonite Brethren Missions and Services or Wycliffe Bible Translators.
