JAMES HUGH WILLIAM MCCRACKEN Passed away April 28, 2005 after a lengthy illness at his residence. James will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his sons, James Jr., and David with wife Colleen; daughters, Sherry Pinky Jackson with husband Shawn, and Fiona Janzen with husband Jon. He also leaves his grandchildren, Nicholas Bam Bam , Mitchell, Meghan, Madelaine, Alex and Julie; his sisters, Sheila Sinclair of Alberta, Heather Hatcher of British Columbia and brother Derrik McCracken of British Columbia; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia in 1993; his father James Sr. in 1974 and father-in-law Wilmer Bruce in 1980. James was born in Hamilton, ON and grew up in Waterloo, QC. In 1958 James served as a Corporal in the Canadian Armed Forces til 1969. He then, for the next 12 years worked in numerous camps as a cook, throughout Canada. By 1980 James began his employment with Stony Mountain Penitentiary, until his early retirement in 1995. James was an active member of the A.N.A.F. #283. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends Douglas Scotty Allison and Jack Wall. Active pallbearers will be James McCracken, David McCracken, Shawn Jackson, Jon Janzen, Nicholas McCracken and Steve Lewco. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow at A.N.A.F. #283, 3584 Portage Ave. Viewing will be held one-half hour prior to service time. James was a man of strength, pride and respect. He instilled all of these qualities to his children. Thank-you Dad. We love you so much! And no, we are not lying!
