DONNA MARGARET SEMAN (FRIESEN)
Date of Passing: Apr 29, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA MARGARET SEMAN (nee FRIESEN) Peacefully after an eight month battle with cancer, Donna passed away in the arms of her loving husband Bruce at the Health Sciences Centre on April 29, 2005 at the age of 56. Donna is survived by her husband Bruce, mother Emma Friesen, sister Norma Brooks, stepson Bruce (Denise) and grandson Jarrod. She was predeceased by her father Jacob Friesen. Donna was born in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Winnipeg with an Arts degree. She also volunteered at the Grace Hospital serving evening nourishments, quickly becoming a nurse's aide. After a few months she became a ward clerk in One North Psychiatry Department. She decided to take a year off before further studies, but found her true calling. Her love of the job turned this into a 33 year career, and she truly loved every minute of it. Donna held a special relationship with her extended family on One North. Donna approached her job with dedication and caring, and became the heart and soul of the ward. At one time or another, doctors, nurses, and patients received her warm hugs. Donna loved to dance, and at one dance she met Bruce. They dated and were married in 1995, and enjoyed ten years of joy and happiness. Donna retired two years ago. She loved her Tae Kwon Do and did well. Donna always tried hard at any endeavor. Donna had a way of making everyone feel special and spread joy to everyone she knew. Donna devoted a lot of time to her mother and sister, enjoyed playtime with her grandson, and spending time with friends, and co-workers. Words cannot express enough our thanks to the people of One North. When Donna and Bruce were married, the people from One North served a meal and helped in every way possible. When her cancer brought Donna back to the Grace, the love and kindness from everyone was enormous. Donna's remarkable inner strength was inspirational to Bruce and everyone she touched. Donna passed away with great dignity and grace. I would like to thank One North, all the staff at the Grace, Dr. Patricia Harris, Dr. Brent Schacter, Dr. Naseer Ahmed, and everyone who knew or treated Donna for the care and compassion she received. Donna's service will be at the church she attended and loved, First Presbyterian, at 61 Picardy Pl., Winnipeg on Thursday (today), May 5 at 12:00 noon with viewing one hour prior to the service. Lunch to follow at the church. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donna's wish was that any donations go to the Grace Hospital Foundation, in care of One North, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Rock Fontaine Funeral Director, Winnipeg in care of arrangements, 223-2576.

Dear Bruce, To you, & your family, my heartfelt sympathy. Donna was a ray of sunshine, an angel. She touched the hearts of so many people. She never failed to send me a birthday card...and some licorice which she knew I liked. Donna, you will always be remembered with love. - Posted by: Judith Hodgson (Acquaintance) on: May 04, 2005
