HAROLD ST. GEORGE STUBBS, Q.C. 1912 - 2005 Husband to Eva; father to Dr. Sydney St. George, Maria St. George and husband Dr. Michael Ramsey, Sidney Wolinsky and wife Dorothy, Christopher St. George and wife Satomi. Grandfather to Conal Ramsey, Dr. Rory Ramsey, Rev. Patrick Ramsey, Dr. Kevin Ramsey, Jennifer Bell Yantsoulis, Catherine Bell, Dr. Andrew Bell, Charles Wolinsky, Natalie Mirai Stubbs and Lewis Sora Stubbs; great-grandfather to Sean, Andrew, Aidan and Elliot Ramsey. Survived also by sister Connie Cruickshank, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Mary (Willcock) St. George Stubbs; first wife Genevieve Dollard; daughter Cynthia Bell O'Neill; brothers, Roy, Gerald, Stanley; sisters, Lillian and Olive. Harold Stubbs graduated a gold medalist from the University of Manitoba Law School in 1936. He was a member of the law firm Stubbs, Stubbs and Stubbs and was Secretary of the Manitoba Law Society from 1958 - 1981. Upon his retirement he was appointed Secretary Emeritus of the Manitoba Law Society. He was Secretary Treasurer of the Conference of Governing Bodies of the Legal Profession in Canada, 1960 - 1972. Also was a Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba, Lecturer at Manitoba Law School, President of the Manitoba Bar Association 1957 - 1958. Appointed to Queens Council in January 1953. Was a liberal candidate in 1957 Federal election, member of Municipal council of Fort Garry and chairman and member of Fort Garry School District. He served in the Second World War with the R.C.A.F. 1941 to 1945 as pilot and flying officer. Past president and long standing member of Southwood Golf Club, Pembina Curling Club, Holly Snowshoe Club. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 19 at Southwood Golf and Country Club from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 Many thanks to Roberto, his nurse, and Alex from Home Care.
