MELVILLE LORNE JOHNSTON 1913 - 2005 Peacefully on May 5, 2005 at the Deer Lodge Hospital, Melville Lorne Johnston passed away in his 91st year. He was predeceased by his first wife Helena in 1962 and by his second wife Nora in 1999. Also predeceased by three brothers, Garfield, Lincoln and Earle. He leaves to mourn his daughters, Noreen (Gerry) Pope of Lorette, MB, Ruth (Guy) Calci of Vancouver, BC; and a son David (Chris) Jessop of Toronto; grandchildren, Blair, Nicole, Greg, Scott, Brent; and five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mel was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway for 35 years retiring as a conductor in 1976 and an honorary member of the United Transportation Union as well as the Canadian Pacific Pensioners Association. Mel was a member of Sturgeon Creek United Church. At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral service and cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Deer Lodge Hospital for all their help. Special thanks to the staff at Heritage House for Mel's care, it was his second home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
