Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYNNE ELIZABETH HOOD (nee HUMPHREYS) Lynne Elizabeth Hood (nee Humphreys) died on April 29, 2005, surrounded by her most loving and supportive family. Born in Winnipeg on October 31, 1943 and was received by her Lord at the age of 61 years. She is survived by her most special husband of 34 years, (Wallace) Bruce; daughter Lisa (Scott) and twin grandsons, Caden and Dustin Pedlow; and son Kevin (Erin), and grandson Tyler Hood. Also survived by brother Grant (Bonnie Plowman) Humphreys; brothers-in-law and wives, Barry (Peggy) Hood and Gordon (Sandra) Hood; and a number of nieces and nephews, and special friend Heather from Winnipeg. Lynne was predeceased by parents, Jen and Tom Humphreys; in-laws, Wallace and Grace Hood; and young niece Margaret Kathleen Hood. Family was regarded as most important and special to Lynne, as she wholeheartedly supported her children's activities, be it Sunday School, piano, hockey, ringette, or whatever else. They indulged in many family camping weekends with close friends. Since she was a young girl, many enjoyable summers were spent at the cottage at Grand Beach, where viewing the gorgeous sunsets each evening brought her tremendous serenity within. Until latter years, Lynne was involved in most sports throughout her school days and adult life. She majored in Physical Education at the University of North Dakota, and worked as a remedial gymnast at the Manitoba Rehabilitation Hospital in Winnipeg. She experienced great enjoyment from treating and rehabilitating her patients, as well as coaching wheelchair track and field and volleyball. Two summers were spent coaching track and field at the Peace Gardens Athletic Camp. She played Senior Women's Basketball for the St. Vital Grads team, winning a bronze medal at the first Canadian Winter Games in Quebec City in 1967. Lynne was inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991 as a member of the St. Vital Grads. Over the years she was actively involved in the Carberry community, serving as EMO Coordinator, Chair of the United Way, Parent Advisor for the Carberry Teen Club, coach of the senior girls' ringette team, and chaperone and bus driver eight years for the Grade 8 Camping Trips. Lynne was a faithful member involved in the Carberry United Church, long-standing member of the choir, as well as several church committees. She had a very strong faith, and tried to be faithful to her Lord in daily living. A keen sense of humour accompanied Motherhood as a friendly sidekick. Joking and laughter were compatible to her nature. Laughter played a very large part when dealing with life's daily problems, and always seemed to somewhat camouflage painful and hurtful physical and medical situations. Lynne thoroughly enjoyed life, love, and laughter, and was so very fond of her loving family and all her caring friends. Friend, Rev. Peggy Reid, accompanied her and helped Walk her Home along the final journey of her life. THERE BY THE GRACE OF GOD GO I
