NORMA LAWRIE On Wednesday, May 4, 2005 Norma Lawrie passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. Norma was born on October 22, 1923 in Rainy River, ON. She lived in various areas of Manitoba and Saskatchewan which included The Pas, Gillam, Churchill and Hudson Bay, SK, eventually settling in Winnipeg. She worked for M.T.S. until she met her husband Martin and became a full time homemaker. She loved to read and write poetry. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy. Mom was one of the most generous individuals we knew, she would donate to any charity. She was a kind, loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Martin of 63 years; three sons, Gavin (Louise), Wayne and David (Verna); nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Roger (Mable); 2 sisters, Merle and Lorna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norma was predeceased by her parents, Hans and Mary Christianson; brother Don and sister Sandra; daughter-in-law Karen; granddaughter Norma; three brothers-in-law, Ingvar Grant, Frank Dunn, and Jack McFarlane; and sister-in-law Margaret Christianson. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 9 at 2 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Victoria Hospital, homecare workers, especially Mary Ashcroft, and to the staff of the Riverview Palliative Care for all their care and support.
