ALAN GREENBERG 1914 - 2005 Peacefully, on Monday, April 25, 2005, Alan Greenberg passed away. He was predeceased by his wife Fay; brothers, Sidney, Ted, and Ben; and sisters, Elsie and Sylvia. Alan was born in Winnipeg on August 16, 1914 to Eva and Joseph Greenberg and grew up in the north end. He went into his father's business, the Manitoba Jobbing Co. which he continued to run after his father's death. Alan was a devoted father and grandfather who had a great love for his children and grandchildren. Sometimes if you were lucky, you would get the famous Zaida Alan show me what you got handshake , a display of his tremendous strength and inherent playfulness. Most of our fondest memories reflect our dad's incredible sense of humour and love of laughter. Even as his Alzheimer's disease progressed, he never stopped laughing and smiling. During this difficult time, Dad's spirit always shone through. Throughout his life, Dad was always proud of his culture and religion. Alongside his devotion to Judaism came his strong devotion to his family. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring man, who will be deeply missed. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff at the Sharon Home Kanee and Simkin Centres, for their caring and compassion. A special thank you to Gilly, Julie, and Sharon. If so desired, donations may be made in Alan's memory to the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice. And at the end we all joined hands, To say a prayer and send him home, His spirit gone with his last breath, Your free DAD, we LOVE you, In our hearts forever, we'll see you again.
