GORDON LAXDAL On Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Concordia Hospital, Gordon Laxdal died at the age of 86 years. Gordon was born on November 18, 1918, the third eldest of six children, to Sigurdur and Carrie Laxdal. He grew up in the R.M of Charleswood where he met the love of his life Joan Overton. In 1941 he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. On February 14, 1942 he and Joan were married, sharing the next 60 years of their lives until her passing on November 26, 2002. Gordon was dedicated above all else to his wife, family, friends and pets and got great comfort out of quietly helping them and attending to their every need. In 1981, after 31 years service he retired from the C.N.R., enjoying a long happy retirement. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Joan, daughter Sheila Solmundson, brother Sam Laxdal and sister Georgine Watson. He is survived by his daughter Georgia (Doug) Holmes; son Gordon, Geraldine, Linda (Doug) Cousens; sisters, Iona Lloyd and Lorraine (Ted ) Bloomer; brother Thomas (Freda) Laxdal; grandchildren, Carrie (Trent) Hreno, Signi (Larry ) Caine, Grant Solmundson, Gregory (Tracy) Solmundson, Dana (Peter) Jessiman, Sigrid (Michael) Duncan, Brett Holmes, Harvey Cousens; great-grandchildren, Stefan Hreno, Dixon, Jonina, Tynan and Soren Caine, Chelsea and Sunny Solmundson, Alexandra and Cady Jessiman, Sam and Matthew Duncan. The family would like to thank all the staff at Deer Lodge Centre with an extra special thanks to everyone on Tower 7 for their kind and compassionate care. It was reassuring to know that Gordon could not have had a better home these past four years. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 11, at Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave., 2nd Floor Chapel. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. We all love you with all our hearts and miss you even more .
