Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY MAY COUTTS (nee HILL) 1926 - 2005 On Thursday, May 5 our beloved Bette and Mom passed away at the Victoria General Hospital. Cherished memories will be treasured by her husband of 56 years Reg; her six children and seven grandchildren, daughter Penny Goodchild and grandsons, Beau, Cody, Calyn, Jory and their father Larry; son Timothy (Marina), grandson Riley and Marina's daughters, Kim and Michelle; son Patrick; daughter Barb Sailor (Greg), grandson Colt and special granddaughter Cameo; daughter Cindy and son John. Also left to mourn is her twin sister Kay Suggit, brother Bill Hill (Dot), sister-in-law Lorna Lobson and many close nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; sister Joan Prentice; niece Carol Cooper; and brothers-in-law, Don Coutts and Al Lobson. Our Mom was born April 5, 1926, the daughter of William and Ethel Hill. Along with her siblings, she grew up in West Kildonan and travelled by train to spend summer vacations at Grand Beach. She was a loyal and dedicated employee of Eatons for over 40 years, originally at the Portage Avenue store before moving to the St. Vital store when it first opened. Although modest of her creative ability, she has left us with a legacy through her oil paintings and her passion for sewing and knitting. She enjoyed painting and decorating her St. Vital home and cottage in Grand Marais. She also loved puttering in her garden at the cottage, but mostly loved the fun filled nights playing cards with the family. She looked forward to the camaraderie on Wednesday mornings, bowling with the Telephone Pioneers. Mom was the hub of our family, physically small but amazingly strong, she held us together. No words can express how much we loved her and how much she'll be missed. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of Betty's life will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Many thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospital for the care they gave to our wife and Mom over the past two months. As a tribute of Betty's life, the family are purchasing a bench at Grand Beach Provincial Park, the place she loved so much. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to one of Mom's favourite charities, World Vision Canada, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
