CHARLES ALBERT (AL) GLEADALL Peacefully, after a short courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing away of, Al on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Grace General Hospital of Winnipeg, at the age of 69. He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Judy; daughter, Darlyne (Fred) Pchajek; grandsons, Terry (T.J.), Sean and Patrick of St. Francois Xavier; step-son Murray Hunter of Winnipeg; step-daughter Karen (Curtis) Opdenkamp; granddaughter Emma of Edmonton, AB; sisters, Eleanor Lake of Crystal Beach, ON and Beverley Sleeper (Ken) of Guelph, ON; sister-in-law May Hunter of Neepawa, MB; brothers-in-law, George Walker of California, Alf Walker (Elaine) of Ottawa and Eric Walker of Victoria as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Al will also be missed by his A W coffee buddies, neighbours and many friends. Last but not least, his beloved dog Trapper. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mary Gleadall; brothers-in-law, Norman Lake and Graham Hunter. Al was born July 23, 1935 in Fort Erie, ON. Crystal Beach, ON was where he grew up, and it always was home to Albert. He joined the Canadian Air Force in 1953 and retiring from the Air Force in 1985, as Master Warrant Officer. During this time Al served in Germany, Syria (U.N.), Gypsumville, MB, and a long time in Winnipeg. Al was very proud to serve in the Canadian Air Force. He was President of the C.F.B. Winnipeg Curling Club, 1982 - 1983. After military life, Al could not be far from them, so he took a position of Supply Supervisor in Air Command, Winnipeg. Through both careers, Al made many long lasting friendships from coast to coast. His hobbies included bowling, curling, golf and watching the Toronto Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs. Al's love for gardening made all the neighbours thankful for the fall harvest. When he had a stroke in 1984, he fell in love with African Violets, joining the Winnipeg Chapter of the Violet Society. He won numerous awards, his most honoured was the 1st Place Amateur. A celebration of Al's Life will be held on Monday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. in Assiniboia-Charleswood Church, 760 Charleswood Road off Roblin Boulevard with Pastor Brian Larmour officiating. Cremation has taken place upon Al's request and his final resting place will be at the Ridgeway-Crystal Beach Cemetery, ON. Special thanks to all the staff of 3 North, Grace General Hospital who gave care, comfort and compassion especially at the final passing of Al. Also to Dr. Schellenberg and Jeanette from Westwood Clinic for understanding and caring for all these years. Special thanks to Candy for all the work. Also to Janet Fast, who gave comfort to Al, Judy and Darlyne during Al's final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of Manitoba, Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Tonight there will be a new star shining bright in the heavens. Rest, my love, you are now at peace and out of pain. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
