ANNE BENDERA (nee Weremy) Anne Bendera passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, May 6, 2005 at the age of 77. Anne was born on January 3, 1928 at the family farm in Libau, MB. She was the second oldest of eight children born to William Weremy and Katherine Weremy (nee Machinski). She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Harry. She is sadly missed by her three sisters, Margaret, Pearl and Diane, and three brothers, Ken, Jerry, and David. On June 8, 1946, she married Michael Bendera and moved to the Bendera family farm in Thalberg, MB where they began to raise their three children. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1959. Michael passed away in 1996, and she then happily resided in Gable Arms apartments, North Kildonan where she lived with family and friends. Anne served as President of their Seniors' Club for several years and enjoyed many events. Anne was very active and loved life. After working at Norman's Drug Store on Selkirk Ave. for five years in the early 60's, she joined Canada Post where she worked until her retirement. She was a long time member of Holy Eucharist Parish and served as Secretary of the Seniors' Club from 1988 to 1998, and as President from 1998 to 2002. Besides having fond memories of great Ukrainian food, her three children, Barbara, Lorry and Bryan; and three grandchildren, Kristin, James and Jessy remember her love for plants and animals. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made on her behalf to the Winnipeg Humane Society by calling 982-2041, or picking up an envelope at the funeral service. A service to celebrate her life, followed by a reception, will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe and Watt, East Kildonan.
