Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERHARD (GEORGE) K. SAWATZKY Suddenly and unexpectedly, on May 5, 2005, Gerhard George K. Sawatzky passed away at the St. Pierre Hospital at the age of 61. Gerhard is survived by his loving wife Elisabeth; son John (Dawn) Sawatzky; daughters, Lolita (Gary) Loewen and Marina (Richard) Rempel; grandchildren, Levi and Chelsea Sawatzky, Natalie and Courtney Rempel, Monica, Alex and Theo Loewen, four sisters and one brother in Paraguay and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Gerhard was born on July 8, 1943 in Gnadenfeld, Paraguay. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1966 and was baptized at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church by Elder Enss. On November 1, 1969 he married Elisabeth Froese. Gerhard worked hard to provide for his family and was employed at Palliser Furniture for over 30 years. Gerhard loved barbecuing and spending as much time as possible at his cottage in St. Malo, and received great joy from being with, and spoiling his grandchildren. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay with Pastors Ferdinand Funk and Ewald Goetz officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. A fellowship meal will follow with interment at the Mennonite Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gerhard may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite #200 WPG, MB R3L 0K6.
