Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLIFF WHITWELL Peacefully on May 6, 2005 at the Altona Health Centre, with family at his side, Clifford Lewis Whitwell, aged 81, passed away. Cliff was predeceased by his first wife Alice, second wife Agnes, son William and brother Len. He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his daughter Lynda, grandchildren, Chad (Sara) and Kimberley (Robbie); sons, Robert and Ron (Bonny) and one brother Bill, as well as nieces and nephews. Cliff will also be remembered by Agnes' sons and daughters, Danny (Darlene), Bob (Carolyne), Kathy (Ernie), Kevin (Sheila), Colleen (Tom) and their families. Cliff was born in Kirkella, MB on October 11, 1923. He was employed by CP Rail as an Operator and Agent for 43 years, spending the majority of his career in Emerson, MB. Cliff served in the RCAF between 1942 and 1946. During this time, and while stationed in Newfoundland, Cliff met and married Alice Lane. Most of their married life was spent in Emerson, raising their family and enjoying a wonderful life together. After Alice's passing in 1992, Cliff was remarried to Agnes Lewis in 1994. Cliff and Agnes enjoyed almost ten years sharing their life together until Agnes passed away in 2003. Over the years, Dad enjoyed golfing, curling, fishing, hunting, carpentry and travelling. He graduated to critiquing golf and curling on TV when he could no longer participate. He enjoyed going out for morning coffee to keep abreast of any news (or gossip) and a friendly game of cribbage or pool at the New Horizons Club. Special thanks go out to Dr. Kliewer and the staff at the Altona Health Centre, as well as to Elaine Friesen, Altona and District Palliative Care Coordinator and her wonderful group of volunteers. Thank you all for your care, kindness and compassion that you provided to Dad during his hospitalization. Thank you to Rev. Bev Ward for her involvement and the comfort that she provided to Dad and the family. Thanks also to the community of Emerson and to Dad's friends and neighbours for their friendship and support. He was a proud Emersonian and there was nowhere else he would have wanted to reside. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the St. Andrew's United Church in Emerson on Tuesday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bev Ward officiating. Interment to follow at the Emerson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation in Cliff's memory, to Altona and District Palliative Care, Box 697, Altona, MB R0G 0B0 or Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
