ERWIN KREBER March 14, 1940 - May 8, 2005 It is with great sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and friend at Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his family. Erwin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Melitta (Jutta) with whom he shared 28 wonderful years of marriage. He will be missed by his sons, Oliver (Winnipeg), Michael (Connie) and two grandchildren; his brothers, Guenter, Albert, Hans, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews all in Trier, Germany. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his mother-in-law Inge (Bernd), our extended family, Christa (Georg), Michael (Erin), Tamara (Nathan) Steinborn. Erwin was born in Trier, Germany. He came to Canada in 1967 at the age of 27. He quickly established himself in the local printing industry. In 1983 he fulfilled a longtime dream of starting his own graphic arts business, Porta Graphics Inc. which he operated with his wife until his illness no longer allowed him to continue on a day to day basis. For many years he was a member of the German Society, the Mardi Gras Association, the German Canadian Business Professional Association and more recently the Gimli Chamber of Commerce. Volunteering his services was always a natural. His lifelong passion was soccer, and he himself played for many years with the Winnipeg Kickers. Nine years ago Erwin built the retirement home by the lake, there he was able to pursue his love of the outdoors and photography. The family would like to thank the staff of Ward GD5 for their compassionate care. The memorial service, officiated by Fr. Dado will be held on Friday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Erwin's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
