Dad was born on June 18, 1924 in Canora, SK. in the field as he would like to tell us. He was raised in the town of Yorkton, SK where his parents owned a grocery store. Summers were often spent on the farm helping with chores, having fun and getting into trouble. Jake moved to Winnipeg at a young age to follow his career as a musician. Dad was born to play the drums and did so for 25 years. He played in all the Big Band Dance Halls of that era and in the Symphony. Dad was also a natural salesman and entrepreneur and was very successful in the art of selling . He was a partner in an insurance company and also owned Carroll Sales Agency and Multi-Line Agencies.
