MARY CARNEY April 13, 1947 - May 10, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Mary. After a lifelong, courageous battle with cancer, Mary passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on May 10, 2005 surrounded with the love and presence of family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe in 1999 and her parents, Lorraine and Jerry O'Sullivan. She is survived by her brother Paul, his wife Lucille and their daughters, Carol, Andrea and Lori; Joe's sisters, Sheila and Jackie; and many aunts and cousins. Moreover, one cannot begin to name all of Mary's friends who survive her and will miss her more than words can express. Mary attended Holy Cross School, St. Mary's Academy and graduated from the University of Manitoba. She married Joe in 1969 and they moved to Dryden shortly thereafter. Mary was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and attended mass faithfully, was a member of the Catholic Women's League, O.P.E.I.U. Union Local 327, employee and family assistance program (EFAP) at the Mill, Dryden Operations Family Association, the Red Hat Society, past member of the Dog Fancier Club and most recently the 55+ Bowling League. Mary volunteered with the Christmas Cheer Board, and had adopted a family this past Christmas. Mary will always be remembered for her love of family and friends and always being there when needed and sharing her time so unselfishly. She spent endless hours volunteering for charity drives, canvassing, DOFA, working at the hospital tuck-shop and the Oncology Ward, and was a participant of the Relay For Life. Mary had a great love of her pet cats and dogs. She enjoyed line dancing, crossword puzzles and will be remembered for her quick wit. Prayer service will be held at Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Dryden, ON, Monday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Luigi Filippini officiating. There will be an Honour Guard present and interment of ashes to be at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Lipschitz and team, staff of ICU, the wonderful caring and supportive nursing and ward staff of GH3 at the Health Sciences Centre. A special thanks to Carol, Nancy, Pat and Renee. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
