RUDOLPH (RUDY) PFEIFER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudy Pfeifer on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Concordia Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ina; brothers, George, Art, and William; sister Gertie Dowling; sisters-in-law, Ragna Littler, Edith Petursson, Hellen Brown, Mary Norman, and Chloe Norman; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his dear friends, Louise Prokop and Elsie Reske. He was predeceased by his father, Anton (born in Bakersdorf, Austria) mother, Mary (born in Berlo, MB) and sister Rose Mintenko. Rudy was born in Ladywood, MB on February 14, 1931. He served as a private with the 2nd battalion of the PPCLI in the Korean War from 1950-1951. He proudly received a citation for his participation in the Battle of Kapyong. He worked briefly as a porter with the C.N., 20 years with Canada Packers, and then as a member of the Corps of Commissionaires until his retirement. He remained active as a member of Royal Canadian Legion No. 1 and No. 215 and the Korean Veteran's Association Unit No. 17. He will always be remembered for his love of card playing and dancing. A celebration of Rudy's life will take place on Monday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
