EVELYN LABOSSIERE (nee LAPORTE) Peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, Evelyn passed away at Grace Hospice with her family by her side, at the age of 76. Evey is dearly loved and missed by her husband Denis; children, Gregory, Corinne, Douglas and J. LaBossiere; son-in-law David Gelley; daughter-in-law Gloria LaBossiere; grandson Alexandre LaBossiere; and a wide circle of loving family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Doris Jourdain and Louise Hicks. Evey was born in 1928 in Winnipeg to Germaine (Delisle) and Rene LaPorte. In 1951, Eve married Denis LaBossiere. With a growing family, she and Denis, an executive with the Hudson's Bay Company, lived in a variety of Canadian cities, enjoying new friends, new homes and new experiences. Evey and Denis returned to Winnipeg in 1978. Despite the miles and the years, Evey kept in close touch with all of those she loved. We miss her dearly. Special thanks to the teams at Grace Hospice, St. Boniface Palliative Care and Dr. Paul Daeninck for their compassionate care. A private service was held for Evey on Monday, May 9 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel. Donations in Eve's memory may be made to The Salvation Army Grace Hospice, to St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and to the Palliative Care Research Fund of CancerCare Manitoba in support of the research work of Dr. Daeninck.
