Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD (ED) WILLIAM JANSEN September 10, 1915 - May 10, 2005 Edward Jansen, son of (Gertrude) Belia (nee Van Lith) and Karel Jansen passed away peacefully in his own bed at home the morning of May 10, 2005. Ed was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his daughters, Karen and Valerie and by his brother Wilf. Ed is survived by Doris, his beautiful wife of 69 years; his two daughters, Audrey and Judy; his brother Gerry; and his sister Annetta; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; as well as countless other friends and family who will miss him dearly. Ed was born in Winnipeg on September 10, 1915. Here Ed and various family members including his brother Wilf, took over the family business Jansen Produce from their father Karel who started the business after moving to Canada from the Netherlands. This is also where Ed met and married his wife Doris (nee Gleadle), raised four lively daughters and enjoyed years of song around a campfire at the Lodge and then at Delta Beach. Ed also enjoyed being a Mason and riding his motorcycle as a Shriner. He and Doris retired to Richmond, BC and then to White Rock. The two spent many fantastic years of golfing, lawn and alley bowling, trips in their camper and family visits in their home near the ocean. Ed and Doris then decided to move to Kelowna, BC where they were able to golf regularly (daily if it had been up to Ed) and be close to family. Ed was one of the most loving, sincere, generous and kind people you could ever hope to meet. He loved life and loved his family more than anything. Ed always had a huge smile on his face that would instantly cheer everyone in the room. Some of his favourite things in life were afternoon party time with his wife and daughters, golf, pea soup, getting good deals on produce, and excellent Scotch. Ed has made many lives more worthwhile just from knowing him. Please help celebrate Ed's life by having a glass of good Scotch in his honour. There will be a service at Springfield Funeral Home in Kelowna, BC at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 16. A donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society can be made in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by: SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME LTD. 250-860-7077
