LESLIE SUTHERLAND MCRAE Peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2005 with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Marguerite (Walker); son Laurie (Donna) of Sherwood Park, AB; daughter Mary (Bob) Beck of Stonewall, MB; grandchildren, Karlee and Brittany McRae, Curtis and Dana Beck. He is predeceased by his brother Eldon (2002); sister-in-law Lucille (1979); father William (1994); mother Rosa (1927). Les was born July 28, 1927 in Selkirk, MB. He was raised in Clandeboye, MB and attended Filmore and Clandeboye Schools. He and Marguerite were wed October 27, 1951 and resided and raised their family on McRae Road in Clandeboye. Les earned his Stationary Engineering Certificate while working at the Selkirk Mental Hospital. He worked at the Powerhouse for 30 years until his retirement in 1988. Les loved his family and was a friend to all. His grandchildren were very important and Grandpa spent many hours giving tractor rides. He also enjoyed sports and the outdoors. Les loved camping and spent many years looking for the perfect fishing spot. His love of conversation and friendly wave will be missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with the Venerable Godfrey Mawejje officiating. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the St. Georges Anglican Churchyard Cemetery, Wakefield, MB. The family would like to thank friends and neighbors for all their kindness, visits and support during Les' illness. A special thanks to Drs. Speer and Racette and the nursing staff at Selkirk General Hospital. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
