Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELVIRA REMPEL Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Elvira Rempel (nee Bergen) peacefully passed away on May 12, 2005 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg after bearing her illness with great dignity and courage. She was born in Sagradowka, Russia on June 3, 1929 and grew up in Morden, MB, a community she continued to take great interest in all her life. She moved to Winnipeg after high school graduation and married her husband of 51 years, Alfred Rempel. She enjoyed raising a family, serving in her church, and volunteering at the Manitoba Crafts Guild. Elvira quilted and embroidered many heirloom quality keepsakes for everyone in the family and for her own home. She took pleasure in executing a beautiful design with small, even stitches. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Rempel, one son Robert and wife Bonnie, and their children Kora and husband Wes Klassen, and Kym of Kitchener, Ontario, and one daughter Barbara and her husband Ronald Westfall of Morden, Manitoba. She is also survived by two sisters, Anne and husband Reinhart Brust of Surrey, B.C. and Helen and husband Roy Wheeler of Montreal, Quebec, and one sister-in-law Ruth Bergen of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by parents Isaac and Anna Bergen and three brothers, Isaac, William and David. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 9:30a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at 10:30a.m. at the Portage Ave. M.B. Church with Pastor Claude Pratte officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Gideons. The family wishes to thank Dr. Pat Harris and her team, along with the wonderful staff on the third floor of the Grace Hospital for their compassionate care.
