Date of Passing: May 13, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW DOERKSEN Peacefully, on Friday, May 13, 2005, Andy Doerksen, beloved husband of Margaret, went to join Our Loving Father. He will be fondly remembered by children, Bill (Bev), Bob (Sharon), Linda (Martin), Angela, Bill (Wanda), Cathy (Terry), Francis (Rose), Anna (Howard), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister and six brothers. He was predeceased by his first wife Frances, two brothers and his parents. Andy was born in 1924 and raised on a farm near Miami, MB and settled one mile from the homestead in the Dunston Community where he and his first wife Frances, now deceased, raised four children. He can best be described as the calm through all the storms with his unending patience in dealing with whatever challenges came along. Seldom seen without a smile on his face, we could always count on him to make everyone laugh with one of his homemade jokes. I'M FREE Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me, I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all, I could not stay another day, To laugh, or love or work or play, My life's been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch, Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief, Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He sets me free. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul's United Church, Morden, MB with Pastor Jeff Kilmartin and Rev. Doug Craig officiating. Friends may view prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Dunston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R2C 4G2.
