RAYMOND A. GOUGEON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond A. Gougeon on May 13, 2005 at the age of 79. Raymond leaves to forever cherish his memory, his beloved wife and best friend of 55 years, Doris and five dear children; Michelle (Denesh), Lise (David), Suzanne (Michael), Gisele (Dave) and Nicole (Norm). He leaves behind his adored grandchildren Adam, Brian, Graham, Gabriel, Dominique, Stephen, Ryan, Cheryl and baby Erin who passed away shortly after her birth and didn't have the opportunity to be spoiled by her grandpa. Ray also had four great-grandchildren; Randy, Logan, Evan and Ivy. Raymond had a colourful career in the insurance field that began in 1951 and extended to his retirement in 1994. He achieved outstanding recognition with such awards as the Million Dollar Club, Round Table and numerous awards including trips that both mom and dad shared. Throughout his life, dad enjoyed boating, trailer trips, camping and red ants! Upon his retirement, he became an accomplished cook and kicked mom out of the kitchen and took domain of her recipes and changed them to suit him. They were enjoyed by all! As the years passed, mom and dad competed in the game of gin and although he would not want to admit it, mom won most of the time, much to his chagrin. At his request, we were to make this announcement light-hearted. He loved to laugh and share his joy with everyone around him. Dad had a great sense of honour, integrity and loyalty both in business and his home life. He raised five daughters to be strong, loving and dad set the example for all of us to follow. Viewing will be held on Monday, May 16 between 6:30 p.m and 8:30 p.m. in the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. also in the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with a closed casket at Raymond's request. The service will terminate at the chapel following the mass and cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Dad would have liked that. We wish to extend our most heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and aids on the 5th and 6th floors of the St. Boniface Hospital who took a special interest in his care and showed immense compassion and dedication beyond the call of duty. Your rest is well earned Ray. We love you and will miss you. Till we meet again, your beloved family. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
