Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY PALEY (nee KOLODZINSKI) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother on May 12, 2005 at the age of 87 years. After 62 years of marriage, Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Peter in 2003. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her son Peter William (Barbara) and her daughter Maureen Taylor (Gary). Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Peter Anthony, Trisha, Troy, and Ty; and by her only surviving sister Nettie Stadnyk (Ted). Mary was born in Tolstoi, MB on September 28, 1917 to William and Annie Kolodzinski and grew up on the family homestead. She attended Tolstoi School and Emerson High School. After graduation, she pursued her lifelong dream by achieving her teaching certificate from Normal School (Teacher's College) in Winnipeg. At the age of 17, Mary began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse called Planky Plains. On June 7, 1941 she married Peter and they settled in Rosa to farm and raise their family. During this time, she taught at several schools including River Ranch, Baskerville, Ridgeville, and Carlowrie. In 1959, the family moved to Winnipeg where she continued to teach for the next 20 years at Isaac Newton School. After completing 43 years of teaching, Mary retired in June 1979. In her retirement years, Mom loved baby-sitting her grandchildren and was a dedicated fan at all their activities. Her hobbies during this time included gardening, knitting, baking, and cooking. She made countless gourmet meals, which were delivered and devoured on the family grain farm during harvest time. After months of hard work, Mom and Dad would travel together to many of their favourite hot spots. Her beautiful smile, and her kind, loving nature will be sadly missed by many. Special thanks goes to the Kildonan Personal Care staff for their professionalism, dedication, kindness and support they demonstrated while caring for our mother. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
