MARY DONALD BROOK Mary passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital on May 13, 2005 with her family by her side. She was born on April 30, 1918 in Scotland. Mary moved to Manitoba at the age of two, with her parents, William (Scotty) and Jean Bryce and older brother Bill. She had lived in the Beatrice and Millbrook areas all her life, except for the first three years in Manitoba, which were spent in South Transcona. Mary married Henry Brook in 1939 and they operated a mixed farming operation. They loved to dance and listen to old time music, especially fiddle music. She moved to the Evergreen Lodge in Dugald in 1998, residing there until her passing. Mary was well known for her beautiful flower gardens, well kept yard and her wonderful Christmas light displays, both on the farm and at Evergreen Lodge. She loved to play cards, cook big dinners for her family and friends, and until her sight failed, enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. Mary was predeceased by her husband Henry, brother Bill, sister Jean, son-in-law Fred Draper and her great-grandson Bradley Franks. She is survived by her sons, Billy (Kathy), Donald (Valerie); daughter Doreen Draper; nine grandchildren, Lisa Wilson, Margaret Brook (Ward), Colin (Suzanne) Brook, Shawn (Dana) Brook, Ryan (Kelli) Brook, Deanna Sellen, Nancy (Bernie) Lussier, Barbara (Rick) Franks, Bryce (Christine) Draper, 18 great-grandchildren, Lee, Mason, Lance, Kyle, Tyson, Colton, Devyn, Keeley, Aiden, Max, Taylor, Matthew, Brittany, Kendra, Kaitlin, Jeffrey, Madison, Curtis; one sister Margaret Hondubura; nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Special thanks to the Springfield Ambulance Service and to the staff of the Emergency and ICU of Concordia Hospital. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. Wayne Larstone officiating. Interment to follow at the Millbrook Cemetery. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
