Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES O'KEEFE JOSS January 28, 1953 - May 12, 2005 Jim, aged 52, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2005. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Wilma, brother Bill (Chris and daughters, Cayla, Hayley and their mother Karin), sisters, Linda (Greg and children, Jennifer and David), Diane (Richard and children, Joe, Tina and Kim), Judy (Wane), Kathy (Ron and daughters, Stephanie and Amy), Jo-Ann (Brian and children, P.J., Michael and Bill), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jim was predeceased by his father Jim in 1991 and most recently by his aunt Doris, uncle Harvey and cousin Alan. Jim was a talented painter and sculptor. He enjoyed his many artbooks, music, videos and hockey. He was a very kind and thoughtful person and always put the needs of others before himself. He had a wry sense of humour and always enjoyed a good joke. He always looked forward to visits from the PACT (Program of Assertive Community Treatment) staff and especially enjoyed the numerous visits from his Mom and nephew Bill. The family wishes to thank the PACT group for their contribution to improving the quality of Jim's life and, in particular, to counsellor and best friend Patrick McDonald. GOD SAW HIM GETTING TIRED God saw him getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him And whispered, Come with me. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer And saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. A service of remembrance for Jim, with interment to follow, will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Donations of non-perishable goods for Winnipeg Harvest may be made at the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society, Inc. 3-1000 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0N3. I knew Jim when I was a child. He and my father John were friends. I called him uncle Jim. He was the first artist that I ever met. He is one of the reasons I am an artist today. Schizophrenia is a terrible disease. My father also had Schizophrenia. Rest in peace Uncle Jim - Posted by: Sarah Clemons (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2024
