ZELMA SKABAR It is with great sadness that we announce that on May 14, 2005 a heart of gold stopped beating. Zelmar Skabar, aged 77, peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Zelma will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Left to honour her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, Edward; sons, Brian (Joyce) Skabar, Robert (Laura) Skabar; daughter Donna (Robert) Ewanchuk; grandchildren, Jennifer, Lindsay, Thomas, Margaret and Lauren Skabar, Bill (Natasha), Tara and Brent Ewanchuk; great-grandchild Emily Ewanchuk; brother Mike (Ann) Penonzek; sisters, Helen Salyga, Bertha (Nick) Premachuk, and Marion (Wally) Tomchuk; her in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Zelma was born in Angusville in 1927, the eighth of ten children. Upon finishing school she moved to Winnipeg, where she met, fell in love with and married Ed Skabar. Zelma was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Margaret Penonzek; brothers, John, Louis, Frank, Joe Penonzek and sister Lilian Ushey. The family would like to thank the Emergency ward and CancerCare unit of the Health Sciences Centre and a special thanks to nurse Maryann of the Palliative Care program for the care, comfort and time provided to Mom. Robin, a very special thanks to you for the Wednesday spa treatments you pampered Mom with. Mom You'll be sadly missed along life's way, Quietly remembered every day; No longer in our life to share, But in our hearts your always there; For those we love don't go away, They walk beside us day by day.
