DEBORAH MARCIA ARMSTRONG (MARIASH) May 9, 1953 - May 13, 2005 After a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family, Deborah passed away into the loving arms of God. She is survived by her husband Brett; and her daughters, Megan and Karly (Khris); her mother Amy Bernhardt; brothers, Nicholas and Raynard (Diane, Max). She is also survived by her father-in-law Larry Armstrong (Edna) and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Debbie was predeceased by her father Nicholas Mariash, stepfather Allan Bernhardt, mother-in-law Doreen Armstrong and brother-in-law Darrell Armstrong. Deborah was born May 9, 1953, in Gimli, MB, and was raised in Winnipeg. After graduating from River East Collegiate, Debbie began her career with the Bank of Montreal where she was employed for over 25 years until her illness prevented her from continuing. Debbie worked at a number of branch locations and in her endearing way, she made many friends with coworkers and customers that continue to this day. Debbie was a girl who had a beautiful smile for all she met along the way. She was kind, gracious and considerate of others. Many happy memories were made with family and friends. Everyone loved Debbie's company and the way she made them feel special and loved. Debbie and her family resided in the East Lower Fort Garry area for over 26 years. Debbie enjoyed many summers with her family and friends camping in the Whiteshell area. She enjoyed gardening, skiing, curling, golfing and reading a good book. She was active in supporting her girls' activities and was always there to cheer them on. She was a dedicated, caring mother and her girls were the love of her life. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Church Anglican, Selkirk (227 McLean Ave.), with Rev. Bryan Bjerring officiating. A private family interment will precede the service at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Pine Ridge. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the doctors and staff in charge of her care at the Health Sciences Centre. A special thank you for the compassion and many acts of kindness shown by the staff of the MICU and wards GD4 and GA4. We would also like to thank the many friends who supported Debbie and the family through her illness. In lieu of flowers, in Debbie's memory, the family asks that consideration be made to signing your organ donor card. Don't Take Your Organs to Heaven... Heaven Knows we need Them Here. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
