Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD STEVENSON October 16, 1935 - May 15, 2005 Peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2005 Ron Stevenson passed away at the age of 69 years. Predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret; brother George; sister Margaret and his beloved wife Jessie. His memory will be cherished by his sister Christine; sister-in-law Nan; nieces, Patti (Marty), Iris (Gord) and Pam (Steven and children); nephew Roy (Janet and family); numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. As a young lad Ron moved from Virden to Winnipeg with his family. He attended Earl Grey School where he excelled in Math and Science. As a young man, he worked part-time delivering prescriptions for Harman's Drug Store. In his teens he developed a lifelong love for music and radio. Money earned often went toward parts and records. Ron worked for a number of years at Winnipeg Photo in the development labs before beginning a long career with CNIB Food Services. He was respected by management and coworkers alike. Ron met the love of his life, Jessie at a CNIB bowling banquet and they were married in 1968. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage - sharing interests and hobbies and their faith. Shortly after her passing, Ron moved to St. Joseph's Residence where he was active in the life of St. Joe's. He loved fun and took part in all the events and celebrations. With encouragement from the Administration, Ron served two terms as President of the Resident Council. There he advocated for the residents' needs and concerns. As part of that group he supported change and growth in client care. Staff and residents were very fond of him and they meant a great deal to him. He could always be counted on for his cheerfulness, good humour, knowledge of current events and issues, and his compassion. He was often in discomfort but always had time to listen to others' cares and concerns. A wonderful man, a sweet soul and a gentle spirit. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 20, at 9:30 a.m. with service and interment to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The ALS Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
