Born: Mar 22, 1928
Date of Passing: May 13, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHANIE BORESKY March 22, 1928 - May 13, 2005 It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Stephanie Boresky (nee Sawchuk), on May 13, 2005 at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Stephanie was the youngest of three daughters, born to Ann and Clifford Sawchuk, of East Selkirk, MB. Stephanie was an achiever, an avid reader and pursued many hobbies. She enrolled in Teachers College, and after graduation, began teaching in rural Manitoba, where she encountered many new experiences. A few years later, Stephanie attended classes at the University of Winnipeg, after which her teaching experience brought her back home to the Selkirk area, where she taught at Devonshire Collegiate and Robert Smith School. One of Stephanie's greatest joys began on the day she married her first love, Walter Boresky in 1951. After starting a family, Stephanie returned to teaching special needs children, once her own children reached school age. Walter worked at the family owned Selkirk Bakery, a landmark many will remember, and was also a devoted volunteer with the Selkirk Fire Department. Stephanie and Walter were blessed with three children, son Rod (Lisa) of St. Andrews, MB; daughters, Carla (Ian) of Brandon, MB, and Anika (Eric) of Stony Plain, AB. Stephanie was a devoted grandmother to Thomas and Robert Boresky, Andrea and Trevor Christiansen, and Tiffany and Michael Ladoski. In the early 1970s, Stephanie and Walter moved their family to a larger home on Eveline Street in Selkirk, where they shared many wonderful moments. In 1976, after 25 years of marriage, Walter suddenly passed away, and Stephanie's life was filled with many challenges, all of which she faced with great courage and dignity. With the help of her children and very caring family, she chose a new career in Real Estate, first as a sales agent, and then later receiving her Brokers' license. She was very successful, receiving many top sales awards and honours of distinction for her hard work. After her children had married and left home, Stephanie moved to Winnipeg, where she enjoyed gardening, reading and entertaining family and friends. Some of her happiest moments occurred when the family gathered at her home for dinner and conversation. Stephanie also leaves to mourn her beloved sisters, MaryAnn McKenzie (Urban - passed away 2001) of Winnipeg, MB and Helen Ledwos (Ed) of Selkirk, MB; as well as her nieces, MaryAnn, of Calgary, AB and Karina of New Zealand; and her nephew Cliff, of Toronto, ON. Special thanks are extended to her sisters, MaryAnn, who spent many long, selfless hours caring for Stephanie each and every day, and Helen who offered her loving support, as well. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Centre on Henderson Highway in Winnipeg, for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided for Stephanie. A private family memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 17, with interment at Glen Eden Cemetery in Winnipeg. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
