Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDION HENRY TRAVERSE (LIPS) November 14, 1976 - May 15, 2005 Tragically on May 15, 2005, it is with deep sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our dear son, father, husband, nephew and cousin, Dion Henry Traverse, aged 28 of the Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation. Dion will be dearly missed by his loving wife Clarice; children, Mercedes, Colan, Shane, Shea-lynn, Dion Jr. and Sienna; parents, Henry and Beverly; mother-in-law Thelma (Rene) Lavallee; father-in-law Lyman Pottinger; brothers, Herman (Ardell) and Phillip (Barbie); sisters, Tania (Wendell), Angie (Rupert), LeeAnne and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. As well as adopted family through the Native American Church, sister Virginia (Roger) and all the mooshoms and kookums in the areas of Yellowquill First Nation, Kawacatoose First Nation and Cote First Nation. He was predeceased by son Jaden in infancy; maternal grandparents, Robert and Lena Oigg; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Margaret Traverse; one brother Leon in infancy; uncles, Albert, Daniel, Elvis and Robert; aunts, Deanna (Deedee) and Isabelle Murdock; adopted mooshoom Harry Stoney of Yellowquill First Nation. Lips was an avid fisherman. He spent his time out on Lake Winnipeg, along with his father, brothers and uncles, at a very young age until his demise. He enjoyed family gatherings where he loved to be in charge of the barbecue, once he was done cooking he would spend the rest of his time playing with and teasing his children, nieces, nephews and cousins. He especially loved to tease his older sister Rose. Lips was hardworking and helpful in giving his time and attention to his loving mom, dad and family. Dion was a member of the Native American Church and believed in the traditional teachings of his dad and uncles. Lips was very special and dear to our hearts and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Wake services will be held on Wednesday, May 18 and on Thursday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. All services will be held at the residence of Henry and Beverly Traverse, Jackhead, MB, with Rev. Barry Bear officiating. Interment will follow at the Jackhead Anglican Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to: ANDERSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME 1-866-293-4951
