HAROLD CARON On Monday, May 16, 2005, Harold Caron, the beloved husband of the late Ellen Caron, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his sisters, Vera Erickson, and Pat Knutson; daughters, Dorothy (Bill), Judith (Joe) and Shannon (Chris); grandchildren, John, Ron, Louise, Joey, Michelle, Geoff, Jackie, Shauna, Max, and Riel; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife Ellen, he was predeceased by his brother Gerry and two sons, Rene and Robert. Harold was born in Delisle, SK and moved to Winnipeg during the depression. He married Ellen in 1941. Harold served with the Canadian Army with the Winnipeg Grenadiers. He worked for many years as supervisor of the engine shop at Standard Machine Works, retiring in 1982. He liked to travel and enjoyed his trips to Mexico and Cuba. Harold was also a proud member of the Manitoba Metis Federation. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and never missed a birthday. Cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A private family committal service will take place at a later date. Harold was an extraordinary man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba and/or bring a non-perishable food product to the service in support of Winnipeg Harvest.
