LAWRENCE E. (WES) WESLEY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Wesley in the Victoria General Hospital on May 16, 2005, at the age of 92 years. Lawrence was predeceased by parents, James and Florence Wesley; brothers, Fred and Ralph; and sister, Muriel. Lawrence is survived by nieces, Barbara Phillpott (Dick), Sandra Peters (Herb) and Joan Huska (Barry); his cousin and friend Vi Booker; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces. He will be missed also by his friends, Don Girden, Al and Sharon Klassen, Danny Swidinsky, Bud Laidler and his faithful and loving companion, Rusty. Lawrence enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1939 and served until 1945. He saw action on D-Day, the Battle of the Shelt, Holland and Germany. He worked for Canada Post for over 35 years before retiring. He worked with many young hockey players, forging lifelong relationships which he valued very highly. He was also instrumental in starting the Lord Roberts Community Club where he coached hockey until 1960. Gardening was one of his favourite pastimes and he had an extraordinary passion for flowers. Orchids, in particular, were his favourite. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Lawrence's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in July of 2005. A further announcement will be published at that time. Wes will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
